A person in a white blouse and blue jeans walks on a forest path, surrounded by greenery. The scene feels peaceful and natural.

Thinking about joining a meditation class here in Norwich, but feeling a little unsure of what to expect? You’re not alone. Many women are drawn to meditation for its promise of calm and clarity, yet worry they might not “do it right” or feel out of place.

The good news is, meditation is much gentler, friendlier, and more approachable than most of us imagine. My 4-week beginner’s course is designed especially for women who are curious, but perhaps a little nervous, about starting their meditation journey.

Let’s bust some myths together, so you know exactly what’s waiting for you.

Meditation Myth 1: “I won’t be able to stop my thoughts, so I’ll fail.”

The truth: Nobody can completely stop their thoughts—and you don’t have to. Meditation is about noticing your thoughts and bringing your attention back, gently, whenever your mind wanders. That’s the practice, and it’s something you’ll be guided through step by step.

Meditation Myth 2: “I’m not flexible enough to sit cross-legged.”

The truth: You won’t be asked to twist into uncomfortable positions. Chairs and cushions will be provided, and the focus will be on feeling at ease. Meditation is about your inner experience, not how you sit.

Meditation Myth 3: “It will feel too serious or spiritual—I’m not sure I’ll fit in.”

The truth: This course is down-to-earth, welcoming, and practical. You don’t need prior experience, special clothing, or particular beliefs. Many women find it’s simply a safe space to breathe, pause, and reconnect with themselves.

Meditation Myth 4: “I’ll have to sit in silence for ages.”

The truth: Each session is gentle and guided. Across the 90-minute class, we’ll explore short practices—like breathwork, relaxation, and simple guided meditations—alongside time to reflect and share (if you’d like). You’ll never be left to figure things out alone.

What You’ll Actually Experience

  • A warm welcome – A small, friendly group of women, all beginning together.

  • Guided practices – Simple techniques you can use straight away in daily life.

  • Moments of calm – Space just for you, away from the busyness of life.

  • Supportive teaching – Step-by-step guidance with plenty of reassurance.

Why This 4-Week Course?

This isn’t just a one-off class—it’s a journey. Over four weeks, you’ll gradually build confidence, explore different meditation styles, and find what works best for you. By the end, you’ll have a set of calming practices you can return to whenever life feels overwhelming.
